The definition of evangelism is "sharing the good news". The purpose of the church is to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world. Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo I am with you always even unto the end of the world.” Romans 10:13-14 says, “Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” The verse goes on to say how can they be saved unless they hear. Somebody has to share the gospel. The point of the verse is that you can't know about God unless somebody tells you. A great majority of people have somebody first tell them about Jesus Christ before they come to church. That's one of our purposes, to tell the good news of Jesus Christ.
We go out as a team every year on a mission trip, so far we have been to Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana and Mozambique, going out and sharing the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We also go out once a month to our community spreading the word of God.
